Limo & Transport for Cox Plate

Australia's weight-for-age championship — a tight track, a big night crowd, and a car that gets you out.

Late October — Saturday 24 October 2026 (confirm with the club)

The Cox Plate is the best race of the carnival on the tightest course. Moonee Valley Racecourse is small, close to the Moonee Ponds shops and the station, and the crowd — a genuine mix of serious racing people and a big social night contingent — all leaves within a short window after the feature. The streets around the track fill and the exit funnels down to a few roads. A chauffeured car drops at the gate and is waiting at an agreed point after, so you are not part of the bottleneck on McPherson Street.

The tightest venue of the carnival

Moonee Valley is compact, and race-day traffic management closes and reroutes the surrounding streets. We set down on the Dean Street or McPherson Street side depending on your gate and the closures on the day, and we plan the pickup point well away from the immediate exit crush.

Redevelopment works around the precinct can change the approach year to year — we confirm the current arrangements the week of the race.

A day and a night

Cox Plate has a stronger evening element than the Flemington days — the feature runs late afternoon and a large part of the crowd goes on into the night, in the Valley precinct or back in the city. We build the booking around that: hold the car, run the group on, rather than ending at the track.

The car

A Hummer or stretch limousine for a group making a full day and night of it; the classic cars for a smaller group arriving in style; the executive vehicles for a corporate host running clients from the CBD or the north-west.

Cox Plate Transport FAQs

Is Moonee Valley hard to get away from after the Cox Plate?

It is a small venue and the crowd leaves in a short window through a few roads, so the immediate exit gets congested. We set the pickup point away from that crush and time it around when your group actually wants to move.

Does the Cox Plate crowd stay out after the races?

More than the Flemington days — the feature runs late afternoon and a lot of the crowd goes on into the night. We can hold the car and run you on to the Valley precinct or back into the city.

Where does the car drop us at Moonee Valley?

Dean Street or McPherson Street depending on your gate and the race-day closures. We confirm the current arrangements the week of the race, as the precinct works change things year to year.
