Limo & Transport for AFL Grand Final
One hundred thousand people leaving the G at once — a car dropped near the gate and waiting after the siren.
Last Saturday of September — Saturday 26 September 2026
Grand Final Day is the single biggest crowd Melbourne moves all year. A capacity MCG empties in under an hour, Wellington Parade and Punt Road lock up, Yarra Park parking is booked out and reserved for members, and post-match rideshare surges to the point of being unusable. A chauffeured car drops your group as close to your gate as the road closures allow, parks off-site, and is at an agreed meeting point after the final siren — which is exactly when 100,000 other people are all trying to leave.
Grand Final Day logistics
Road closures around the MCG start well before the first bounce — sections of Brunton Avenue, Jolimont Terrace and the Yarra Park roads shut, and the pedestrian flow takes over Wellington Parade. We plan the drop from the Jolimont or Richmond station side depending on your gate (Gate 1–3 for the members, the Great Southern Stand gates for general admission) and set down at the last legal point.
For the trip home we agree a pickup spot away from the immediate gate crush — often a block or two back toward Richmond or East Melbourne — and a window. The car waits; you do not queue.
Corporate boxes and the long lunch
A lot of Grand Final bookings are corporate — a box, a marquee, or a Grand Final eve function that runs into the Saturday. We can hold the vehicle across the day so a host can collect clients from a city hotel, deliver them to the G, and run the return once the function winds up.
The car for the day
A Hummer or stretch limousine for a group of mates making a full day of it — pub beforehand, the G, then on into the night for the winning (or drowning-sorrows) celebrations. The executive Mercedes or BMW for a corporate host and clients. The whole booking is built around the after, because that is the hard part.

AFL Grand Final Transport FAQs
How early do I need to book a car for the AFL Grand Final?
As early as possible — Grand Final Day is one of the most heavily booked days of our year and the finalists are only known two weeks out, which compresses everyone into the same window. If you have a plan, call now.
Where does the car drop us at the MCG?
As close to your gate as the road closures allow — usually from the Jolimont or Richmond station side. Gate 1–3 for members, the Great Southern Stand gates for general admission. The exact set-down depends on the closures on the day.
What about getting home after the final siren?
That is the whole point of booking a car. We agree a pickup point a block or two back from the gate crush and a time window. The car is there waiting while rideshare surges and the taxi rank stretches around the block.
Can you handle a corporate Grand Final booking?
Yes — we hold the vehicle across the day so a host can collect clients from a city hotel, run them to the G, and do the return once the box or marquee function winds up.
