Private Day Tour

Great Ocean Road Private Tour from Melbourne

The Twelve Apostles, the coast road and the lookouts — at your pace, in your own car.

The Great Ocean Road is the most popular day trip from Melbourne, and the longest. Most people see it from a coach with a set timetable and a crowd at every stop. A private tour gives you the same coastline with your own chauffeur: leave early to beat the buses, stop at the lookouts you want, take a proper lunch in Lorne or Apollo Bay, and reach the Twelve Apostles in the late-afternoon light. Any car in our fleet can do the trip — send us your date and our booking manager will quote the day.

How the day usually runs

It is a long day — typically eleven to thirteen hours return, depending on how far along the coast you go and how long you stop. Most trips head out through Geelong to Torquay and the start of the Great Ocean Road, then follow the coast through Anglesea, Lorne and Apollo Bay, inland through the Otway rainforest, and on to the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. Many groups take the faster inland route home so the evening is not spent on coastal bends.

Why private beats a coach tour on this one

On a coach, the Twelve Apostles is a crowded half-hour at the busiest time of day. Privately, you can time it for fewer people and better light, skip the stops you are not interested in, and spend longer at the ones you are. Your chauffeur does all the driving on a road that is tiring to drive yourself — the whole group gets to look out of the window.

The right car for the coast

For a family or a group of friends, the Mercedes Sprinter seats up to thirteen with big windows and room for bags and picnic gear. Couples often choose the G-Wagon or the Rolls Royce Tribute. Every car in the fleet is available — tell us how many are coming.
