The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix turns the roads around Albert Park lake into a race track for four days. Lakeside Drive, Aughtie Drive and Queens Road sections close, the tram routes reroute, and the surrounding South Melbourne, Middle Park and St Kilda Road streets fill with 400,000-plus people across the weekend. The car parks inside the park are for corporate and accredited access. A chauffeured car with a driver who has done the event before drops your group at the closest open gate and is back at an agreed point after the podium.
A circuit on public roads
Because the track is the road network, the closures are extensive and they change by the day — build-up, practice days, qualifying, race day. We work from the current AGPC traffic plan and drop at whichever gate (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10) is closest to your grandstand or corporate suite with the roads as they are that day.
Race-day exit is the hardest part: the podium finishes and the entire crowd moves at once through a handful of open gates. We set the pickup well back — often toward South Melbourne or the St Kilda Road side — and wait.
The Paddock Club and corporate
The Grand Prix is a major corporate event — the Paddock Club, the corporate suites along the main straight, the sponsor activations. We run hosts and clients from city and Southbank hotels, holding the vehicle across the day so guests can move between the suite and the track walk.
The car
A Hummer or stretch limousine for a group doing the full weekend; the executive Mercedes and BMW for corporate and hospitality runs; the classic and prestige cars for arriving at a Paddock Club function.
